    Addressing the Gay Issue

Heterosexuals are always being accused by homosexuals of being narrow-minded and intolerant, but have any of them ever said they understood why straights might regard sodomy as disgusting behavior?

Have they ever said that although we all grasp the fact that not all homosexuals are pedophiles, it still behooves them to speak out against adults having gay sex with “consenting” teenagers and, furthermore, why it would be inappropriate and criminally irresponsible for the Boy Scouts to allow homosexuals to be Scout Masters and to oversee camping trips? Just as an aside, I can’t help reflecting on the fact that “camping” is a word long used to describe gays acting out in the most outrageous fashion.

Also, when they defend their life style because they were “born that way,” are they blind to the fact that pederasts and rapists and, I dare say, serial killers, could, in their own defense, make the identical claim?

I happen to know a great many conservatives, and I don’t know a single one who believes that gays should be bullied, beaten, persecuted or ostracized by their families. That’s not to say there aren’t any, but I’m happy to report that I haven’t run into them. At the same time, I don’t know why a crime committed against a homosexual should be deemed a “hate crime” and carry a heavier penalty in a court of law than the very same offense when the victim happens to be a heterosexual..........<SNIP>

I believe a lot of homosexuals are born that way. I've witnessed it. I've grown up with kids who are homosexual and you saw it coming when they were little. Same with a couple of friends who's children I've known since they were born.

Homesexuals have been with us since time began. I personally could care less what they do. What I resent is their radical elements trying to force their agendas into everything, like marriage. I don't deny these people aren't attracted to their own gender and even fall in love and want to share a life together. If they want a legal commitment towards each other, no one is stopping them.

Well, sure. But I've seen the opposite. A child raised by a gay nanny, who pretty much did seem gay, and with the child prancing around and all, yet he turned out to be totally straight and is getting married (normally)... Just don't buy into that born this way stuff. People change. That is all.

I think one can be born predisposed to homosexuality, but that the final turnout depends largely on his/her social upbringing

I'm convinced that a lot of them are born that way. I know too many of them well. They have siblings and weren't raised any differently than their macho brothers with the same experiences and parents. Just because scientists haven't found the reason means squat to me. Today, one in less than a hundred kids are born with autism, and the scientists haven't been able to figure that out either.

I'd recommend taking autism rate figures with a huge grain of salt - particularly if anyone tries to convince you that the rate is increasing. Many conditions today are diagnosed as "mild autism" that were simply not diagnosed until very recently. And much like ADD, there is substantial question as to whether or not many of those milder conditions actually should qualify for diagnosis.

Remember: there is a huge part of the medical industry that makes its living treating "disabilities". They have a vested interest making such diagnoses, and there is no longer the stigma that was once attached to such diagnoses.

The fact is, same sex attaraction is a disorder, and you don't feed and glorify peoples' disorders, and you certainly do not enshrine them in institutions like marriage.

For some though, this is now the "non-disorder formerly known as disorder." It was a disorder in the DSM I and II. The fact that it is not listed as a disorder in the DSM IV does not mean that it is not a disorder. The APA (American Psychological Association) can be wrong. The current APA thinks that they were "wrong back then," and "right now." But certainly, the opposite may be true, that is was right back then and wrong now.

Personally, I think that the APA was right before and wrong now, because they now fear liberal retaliation and politcial correctness that did not exist before.

    Bah!

One thing about all of this that irritates me no end is when people folks start issuing death threats against those who choose to exercise free speech... Like they did to Brad Pitt's mom...

I think the left calls it tolerance. Of course they can't tolerate anyone who doesn't think/feel like they do.
