Warren Buffett backs Keystone pipeline
An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life. ~ Robert A. Heinlein
From the article...
The president has insisted that the decision was based not on the merits of the pipeline, but rather on an expedited timeline backed by the GOP that forced him to make a quick decision.
Yes, it's the GOP's fault... surprised he didn't mention Dubya...
As Promised, Canada Building Pipelines to Sell Oil to China
Stephen Harper was not making an idle threat or a political statement. Canada is moving full speed ahead with plans to sell tar-sands oil to other consumers, particularly China.
Snip.....there is no conceivable benefit to the United States in having oil from our closest, most trusted neighbor sold to China. The United States loses jobs and is forced to continue to buy its oil from nations like Venezuela and Saudi Arabia instead.

Frogdogbirdtree. I've been to the keystone pipe line. She was notified by the Keystone pipeline builders, TransCanada, that her land would be on the pipeline right of way. They pipeline paid for a lease on the land. TransCanada is now the property owner. She was standing in the easement that is TransCanada owns. She is not the property owner. Sure she can go on the land but protesting equipment clearing your land after you have taken that companies money.
The protesters are nuts. They are currently occupying trees in the pipeline right of way. I'm sorry. How does that help the cause?
The problem with our US government is not a Republican or Democrat problem. It's party politics.

Eminent Domain? You like that? Where do you live? Easement? You want that on your property? Bah! Just because you like oil doesn't give your government the right. Private property is the basis of our system. Or should have been.
I have to agree that this is wrong. Texas was wrong to do this. If this "easement" cuts through her property...well, it's very wrong. Privately owned property is that. If she signed to lease out the land..HER land...then decided to block, that's on her. Texas seized private property and that's wholly not what this country was founded on.
