Apparently the Qu'rans in question had been scribbled in by terrorists and were full of jihadist BS.
Unfortunately, I have to say this was badly mishandled. As someone elsewhere observed: we should have known that burning books wherever local workers could see it was a bad idea and would cause an incident. Why in the hell didn't we simply have a couple of US personnel remove the pages and run them through a shredder in a back room, then destroy the covers privately later? Or, alternatively, why didn't we ship them out of country for destruction?

Is it time to get out of Afghanistan? Are these people even capable of sustaining democracy, peace, and any modern way of living? We should have went in and ruthlessly destroyed the Taliban, and then we should have left. Killing people over a book being burned?

I wonder what the rest of the world would think about us, if all they ever got to see on the news was the crazy OWS protesters. There are 30 million people in Afghanistan. How many of them are out causing mayhem and how many of them are Taliban supporters?
We are there for one reason only, and that was to keep the Taliban from coming back in to set up more bases for al Qaeda. So what do you all think will happen if we leave? What will happen to the Afghans that still want us there?
